Voronezh State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, founded in 1930, is one of the biggest and wide ranging specialized institutions of higher education in Russia. The University has been accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK) in 2001.

g    There are 5500 students and 130 postgraduate students at the University, among them 100 students from 20 countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America.

g    Study and research are carried out at 36 departments staffed with 490 lecturers, among them 49 corresponding members of different Academies of Science of Russia, 60 Professors and DSc, over 350 Readers and PhDs. The majority of the academic staff is the University graduates.

g    At the University faculties BEng, certificated specialist and MEng training is provided in all major streams of architecture and civil engineering, such as

-    architecture;

-    design of architectural environment;

-    civil engineering;

-    production of building units and structures;

-    heat and gaz supply and ventilation;

-     water supply and water disposal systems;

-    highways and airdromes;

-    hoisting machinery, construction and road machines and equipment;

-    automation in engineering processes and production;

-    economy and management in civil engineering;

-    house building and municipal  economy;

-    applied information science in economics;

-     real estate expertise and management.

g    Postgraduate courses are organized into 31 streams, including

-   theory of architecture and urban planning;

-   theoretical principles of heat engineering;

-    structures in civil engineering;

-    structural mechanics; mechanics of solids;

-    building materials and products;

-   geodesy and photogrammetry;

-   welding equipment;

-    road-building machinery;

-   bases and foundations;

-   heat and gaz supply and ventilation;

-   thermal physics and molecular physics;

-   ecology in civil engineering

 

The studets of the International department have the opportunity to continue the education within the precincts of the Europian and American Universities.

 

g    The campus of the Voronezh State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering includes 6 study buildings and laboratories, a scientific library with 500,000 books, student halls of residence for 2000 persons, a health center, a recreation sanatorium, and a refectory. Sports center includes 7 halls, 2 shooting galleries, a set of sports grounds, and a summer recreation camp set in attractive countryside, which make it possible for students to go in for 20 kinds of sport activities.
